NRBC Bank organises microfinance training for field officials

NRBC Bank organized a two-day training programmed on microfinance titled “Microfinance Credit Operations and Risk Management”, with the closing ceremony held on Thursday, at the bank’s Human Resources Training and Development Centre.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA, attended the closing ceremony as chief guest.

Among others present were Fahmida Chowdhury, Head of Human Resources and Training Development Centre, Md Romjan Ali Bhuiyan, Head of the Microfinance Department, Sk Ahsanul Haque, an official from the Credit Risk Management Division, and Abdul Haque Sardar, in-charge of the Microfinance Department.

Field officers, group leaders, unit in-charges, area in-charges, zonal in-charges and other officials involved in the bank’s microfinance operations took part in the training.

Speaking at the event, Dr Touhidul Alam Khan said NRBC Bank is giving priority to lending in the cottage, micro and small enterprise sectors.

He said around 26 per cent of the bank’s total loan portfolio has already been disbursed in these sectors and that the bank plans to increase the share further in future.

He also said microfinance activities create opportunities to work directly with marginalized communities. Through such training programmers, he added, the bank aims to develop its officials into entrepreneur-friendly professionals so they can play an effective role in supporting sustainable development.
