Rishad, Mustafizur shortlisted for ‘The Hundred’ auction
Sports Reporter :
Two Bangladeshi cricketers, Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain, have secured places in the final draft list of the ‘The Hundred’ cricket auction, set to take place at Piccadilly Lights in central London on March 11 and 12.
Only these two names survive out of the 23 people sent from Bangladesh in the shortlist of 243 cricketers released on Monday.
A total of 23 Bangladeshi players had registered for the draft, but apart from the duo, none made the shortlist. Those who missed out include Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Liton Das, and Najmul Hossain Shanto, among others.
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur and leg-spinner Rishad, both of whom recently impressed in Australia’s Big Bash League, are among more than 400 cricketers featured in the auction pool.
Mustafizur Rahman is the only Bangladeshi player with the top base price of 100,000 pounds for the forthcoming players’ auction of ‘The Hundred’, as the registered players’ list has been announced.
Rishad Hossain, who shone in the Big Bash League in Australia for the Hobart Hurricanes, was in the category where the base price is 75,000 pounds.
No Bangladeshi cricketer has played in The Hundred since the tournament’s inception in 2021.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed last month that nearly 1,000 players from 18 countries registered for the 2026 auction.
The tournament is scheduled to run from July 21 to August 16.
