Srabanti files complaint against police for indecent comments about her body

Popular Bengali actress Srabanti Chatterjee has been subjected to nasty comments on social media about her body shape and weight gain. She has taken
legal action, alleging mental harassment.
Indian media reported that Srabanti filed a written complaint with the Kolkata Police’s Cyber Crime Branch via email on Friday. The police are said to have accepted the complaint and started an investigation. For a long time, a section of netizens had been making negative comments on social media about her weight gain and changes in appearance.
Expressing her anger over this, Srabanti said, “I couldn’t hold my patience any longer. We artistees are already soft targets. But not only as an artiste, but also as a common person – I can’t accept dirty comments like this day after day. Negative things are being said about my appearance and body.
But you should think a little about why my appearance has changed.”
Srabanti recently completed work on a web series titled ‘Thakumar Jhuli’. In it, she had to play the role of a grandmother. She said that she had to gain about 10kg of weight for the role. The actress said, “You have to prepare for playing the role of a grandmother in the same way. A grandmother’s body cannot be like a heroine’s, but people love to make comments without knowing anything. Sadly, it’s not just men who make such comments – women too.” The shooting of the series has now been completed and she is said to have started exercising regularly. The actress said that she has sought the cooperation of the administration to set an example against online personal attacks and cyberbullying.
