Bina holds mustard field day

A field day was held to promote and expand the high-yielding and short-lived mustard variety Bina Mustard (9,11) developed by the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA).

On Monday , the field day was held with the support of the Rangpur Department of Agricultural Extension, funded by the Bina Research Activities Strengthening Project.

Additional Director Rangpur Agriculturist Sirajul Islam, Additional Assistant Director Agriculturist Md. Saiful Alam, BINA Rangpur Sub-Center Officer-in-Charge and Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Rafiqul Islam were the chief guests.

Rangpur Agricultural Training Institute Vice Principal Mocha: Rahela Parvin was the special guest. Scientific Officer Motabber Rahman, farmer Saidar Rahman and others spoke at the event.

Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge and Chief Scientific Officer of the Bina Sub-Center, said that this year, 4200 farmers in Rangpur district, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Gaibandha, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh districts of Rangpur division have been given free seeds of 2.5 kg each of Bina mustard varieties 9 and 11.

He further said that 100 demonstration plots have been set up in 59 upazilas of 8 districts.

Through this, farmers have been given practical advice. This year, the mustard yield has been good. This short-lived mustard yields more. Farmers will be able to meet their needs by producing oil.
