Gazipur-3 Paddy Sheaf Dr. Bachchu’s victory restored the seat after 47 years.
In the 13th National Parliament election, BNP’s Central Joint Health Affairs Secretary Professor Dr. SM Rafiqul Islam Bachchu won by contesting with a paddy sheaf and breaking a 47-year record.
Earlier, in 1979, the then BNP treasurer Chowdhury Tanvir Ahmed Siddiqui, a resident of Kaliakair Upazila, had won from this seat with a paddy sheaf symbol.
Since then, candidates from the JPA and the AL have been winning in this seat.
After a long 47 years, Dr. Bachchu created a record by winning as a paddy sheaf candidate and for the first time since independence as a resident of Sripur.
Sreepur Upazila BNP founding president Alhaj Hazrat Maulana SM Ruhul Amin said that in the 1979 election led by martyred President Ziaur Rahman, Chowdhury Tanvir Ahmed Siddiqui was the last to be elected from this constituency with the symbol of a sheaf of rice. Since then, no BNP candidate has been elected from this constituency.
Immediate reaction after winning Dr. Bachchu said that this victory is a different feeling for the people of Sreepur, exercising the right to vote after a long time, the first victory as a resident of Sreepur in Gazipur-3 constituency, and the restoration of this constituency after 47 years has added more joy to the joy of victory.
He thanked everyone for maintaining the success of this victory and sought the cooperation of people from all walks of life.
