The Global Super League (GSL) is set to return for its third edition from July 23 to August 1, at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, organisers announced on Sunday.

This season’s Bangladeshi representation comes with added prestige, as the Rajshahi Warriors qualified after winning the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Rajshahi clinched the title under the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto, defeating the Chattogram Royals in the final.

The previous edition marked a major milestone; the Rangpur Riders from Bangladesh earned their place in the tournament after first featuring in the GSL in 2024.

Initially, Fortune Barishal were slated to participate, but Rangpur stepped in due to their absence, making the most of the opportunity on the international stage.

A sold-out Providence crowd witnessed the Guyana Amazon Warriors lift the trophy after defeating the Riders.

According to the Stabroek News on Sunday, Sir Clive Lloyd, Chairman of the ExxonMobil Guyana GSL, expressed his excitement ahead of the new season.

“It gives me immense pride, as Chairman of the ExxonMobil Guyana GSL, to officially announce the dates for our third edition.

In just two years, the GSL has established itself as a truly global club competition, showcasing outstanding talent and attracting tremendous support both locally and internationally,” the former cricketer said.

“Last year’s final, played before a packed stadium, demonstrated the passion for cricket in Guyana and the strength of this tournament.

From 23 July to 1 August, we look forward to welcoming five outstanding teams to Providence once again, where they will compete fiercely for the title and a $1m prize purse.

The GSL is about excellence, opportunity and uniting fans from around the world through the game we love.”
