Who are oldest and youngest MPs?

Among the candidates elected in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the oldest is BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.

The youngest person set to take oath as a Member of Parliament (MP) is Abdul Hannan Masud, Senior Joint Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP). This information was obtained from the unofficial election results and the candidates’ affidavits.

According to his affidavit, Khandaker Mosharraf was born on October 1, 1946. His current age is 79 years and 4 months. He contested the election from the Cumilla–1 (Daudkandi and Meghna) constituency with the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol.

According to unofficial results, he won the seat with 141,440 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md. Moniruzzaman, secured 94,845 votes.

Previously, in the 9th National Parliamentary Election in 2008, Khandaker Mosharraf also contested from the same constituency with the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol. At that time, he finished second with 96,378 votes.

Meanwhile, Hannan Masud was elected from the Noakhali–6 (Hatiya) constituency. He secured 91,899 votes. His nearest rival, BNP candidate Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, received 64,021 votes.

According to his election affidavit, Hannan Masud was born on January 1, 2000. His current age is 26 years and 1 month. This was his first time contesting in a national election. He gained recognition as a frontline leader during the July mass uprising.

Later, he joined the NCP and contested the election as a candidate backed by the 11-party alliance, using the “Water Lily Bud” symbol.
