Jamaat-led 11-party alliance expresses satisfaction with polls despite isolated irregularities

Staff Reporter :

The 11-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami expressed overall satisfaction with the conduct of the 13th national election, describing it as largely participatory and peaceful, despite some isolated incidents of irregularities.

Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat, Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, spoke at an emergency press conference held yesterday at the party’s central office, with top leaders of the alliance present. He praised the election as a reflection of the people’s national aspirations and congratulated the government, the Election Commission, and citizens for their role in the democratic process.

Zubair said, “We believe all parties made efforts to ensure a proper election. As a result, there were no major incidents reported, though some isolated events took place.” He highlighted that postal ballots, referendum votes, and parliamentary ballots would be counted simultaneously and emphasized that the alliance would closely monitor the counting process.

The Jamaat leader also alleged that in certain polling centres, alliance agents were barred from entering and, in some cases, were assaulted. “We immediately informed the administration and the Election Commission,” he said.

Zubair claimed that attempts at a “media trial” to undermine the election were thwarted by active voter participation. He expressed hope that the results would be available by night and congratulated the nation on a largely smooth election.

“Compared to past elections, this one was better, giving hope to the nation. We expect no irregularities, disruptions, or deviations in the vote counting,” he added.

The statement reflects the alliance’s endorsement of the election process while acknowledging minor issues in certain locations, signaling a commitment to closely observe the final vote tally.
