Tarique, Shafique to deliver election address on BTV today

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman will deliver election addresses to the nation on Bangladesh Television (BTV) today ( Monday) ahead of the national election for February 12 next.
After one and a half decades, leaders of various political parties are getting the opportunity to address the nation on Bangladesh Television (BTV).
On the occasion of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the state-run broadcaster started airing election speeches from Sunday, allowing political parties to seek votes through BTV.
The speech of Dr Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, is scheduled to be broadcast between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm, while the speech of Tarique Rahman, Chairman of the BNP, will be aired between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
Meanwhile, Nahid Islam, Convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and Mufti Rezaul Karim, Ameer of Islami Andolon Bangladesh delivered speeches through BTV on Sunday.
Earlier on February 3, the EC in a letter signed by its Director (Public Relations) issued directives to the Director General of Bangladesh Television in this regard.
The EC letter said that creating a fair, free and acceptable electoral environment is of utmost importance for holding a credible election.
Ensuring equal opportunity for all candidates and political parties in election campaigning on BTV is a key component of such an environment.
According to the EC, slot allocations must be made following the Section 6(g) of the National Parliamentary Election Code of Conduct, 2025, and on a first-come, first-served basis.
The duration of the speeches, along with the date and time of recording have been, finalised by BTV in consultation with the political party concerned.
