Tigresses’ 7 out of 7 in T20 WC Qualifiers

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team emerged the champions in the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup (WC) Qualifiers after defeating Netherlands Women’s Cricket team by seven wickets in their ‘Super Six’ match at Mulpani Cricket Ground in Nepal on Sunday.

The Tigresses have already reached the final phase of the ICC T20 World Cup. Bangladesh women finished their ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers campaign with unbeaten note.

The Tigresses gained 10 points in their ‘Super Six’ phase. Earlier, Bangladesh women collected maximum eight points playing four matches in their Group-A segment.

Tigresses finished their T20 WC Qualifiers wining maximum seven out of seven matches.

Chasing Netherlands’ fragile total of 102 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, the Tigresses romped home making 105 for the loss of three wickets when they had 20 balls in hand.

Nahida Akter played the key role to restrict Netherlands to a meager total. Nahida Akter captured three wickets in the space of 10 runs with one maiden over in her four overs.

She was adjudged the Player of the Match for her outstanding bowling performance.

Bangladesh had a sorrow start as they lost their two openers for six runs.

One-down Sharmin Akhter and second down Nigar Sultana repaired the early damage contributing together 42 runs for the third wicket partnership before Sharmin Akhter was caught by substitute MM Dekeling off Hannah Landheer when Bangladesh’s total was 48 for the loss of three wickets.

Then, Nigar Sultana and three-down Sobhana Mostary powered their team to cruise into the victory target scoring together 57 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket partnership.

Nigar Sultana remained unbeaten with 50 runs. Her 44-ball captain’s knock was laced with seven fours.

Sobhana Mostary remained unbeaten with 33 runs. Her 23-ball innings was studded with five fours and a sixer.

Sharmin Akhter added 13 runs to the Tigresses’ total.

Heather Siegers, Iris Zwilling and Hannah Landheer took one wicket each for nine, 16 and 17 runs respectively.

Netherlands lost their early five wickets for 23 runs.

Third down Robina Rilke and four-down Sanya Khurana fought back against the marvelous bowling attack of Bangladeshi bowlers adding together 79 runs in the sixth wicket stand.

Robina Rilke was stumped out by wicketkeeper Juairiya Ferdous off Shorna Akter when Netherlands’ total was 101 for the loss of six wickets.

Sanya Khurana remained unbeaten with 43 runs. Her 37-ball innings was ornamented with six fours.

Robina Rilke hit a polished 39. Her 45-ball knock was decorated with four fours.

Marufa Akter, Shorna Akter and Rabeya Khan picked up one wicket each giving 14, 17 and 26 runs respectively.
