Jamaat-BNP clash: Injured sent hospitals

At least 8 people from both sides were injured in a clash between Jamaat and BNP over verbal altercation on their way back from Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman’s rally in Chauddagram, Comilla. Police and army personnel reached the spot after receiving the information. The incident took place at around 2:30 pm on Saturday in Hatbair village of Jagannathdighi Union of the upazila. The injured are Upazila BNP Vice President Soleman Chowdhury, Upazila South Shibir President Rifat Sunny, Jamaat leaders Rabiul Hossain Rocky, Zakaria Russell and Kazi Russell. The names of the other injured were not immediately known. The injured are being treated at Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex and various hospitals.

Eyewitnesses said that when the leaders and activists of the Jamaat were returning home after the rally at the Chauddagram Pilot High School grounds, they reached the area of Hatbair village in Jagannathdighi Union and started making various provocative remarks.
