‘Action will be taken if internet is shut down during polls’

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that anyone who shuts down the internet will be brought under the law. He made these remarks in response to questions from journalists after a view-sharing meeting with administrative officials and law enforcement officers of various levels of Chattogram Division at the city’s World Trade Center on Sunday. He said, if anyone shuts down the internet during the election period, we will bring them under the law. The internet will remain open. Your mouth is completely open. You are here to reveal the truth. If you cannot reveal the truth, the people will not get accurate information.
Therefore, we want journalists to work independently and tell the truth. In response to a question, the Home Affairs Advisor said, the preparations of the administration and law enforcement agencies for the election are satisfactory.
Their preparations are quite good. If the work progresses according to this preparation, the election will be fair and festive. Earlier, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury exchanged views with various levels of administrative officers and law enforcement officers of Chittagong Division. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin, Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam Miah, DIG of Chittagong Range Md. Ahsan Habib Palash and other senior officials of the division were present.
