4 family members jailed over child murder

The Pirojpur District Detective Branch (DB) has recovered the body of 5-year-old child Rayyan Mallick in a sack two days after he went missing in Bhandaria upazila under Pirojpur district.
Four people, including the deceased’s cousin, uncle, aunt and killing planner have been arrested on charges of involvement in the incident and sent to Pirojpur jail on Wednesday afternoon.
The arrested are – Riyad Mallick (19) – the main accused Mizan Mallick (42) and Parveen Begum (35), parents of Riad , Saidul Islam (36), the planner of killing planner. Police sources on Thursday acknowledging the fact said, Rayyan Mallick, son of Russell Mallick of Uttar Atarkhali village of Bhandaria upazila, went missing on January 25. Then child’s mother, Sayeeda Tanvi, filed a general diary (GD) with Bhandaria police station on the same day in this incident. Later, the police took the matter seriously and filed a kidnapping case under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act.
Under the direction of Pirojpur District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Manzur Ahmed Siddiqui, a special team led by District Detective Branch (DB) OC Ariful Islam launched an investigation.At one stage of the investigation, a mysterious note was found on the veranda of a local mosque. Using modern investigation techniques, the police confirmed that the note was written by the missing Rayyan’s cousin Riyad Mallick (19).
After being arrested, Riyad Mallick confessed to the police that he did this at the instigation of his neighbor Saidul Islam in exchange for 20 thousand taka. Then he left the note on the veranda of the mosque on the instructions of Saidul.
Later, based on the information given by Riyad, the police searched the cowshed in front of his house. There, the dead body of child Rayyan was recovered from inside a haystack.
Pirojpur District Police Superintendent said that the main goal of the kidnappers was to demand ransom or satisfy some other grievance.
However, it has been possible to unravel the mystery of the incident and arrest the accused as soon as possible.
