BD to start ‘Super Six’ of Women’s T20 WC Qualifiers today

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team are going to start the ‘Super Six’ of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (WC) Qualifiers today with a match against Thailand Women’s Cricket team.
The Tigresses will take the field against Thailand at Mulpani in Kathmandu at 9:15am (Bangladesh Standard Time).
In Group ‘A’, Bangladesh defeated the United States by 21 runs, Papua New Guinea by 30 runs, Namibia by 80 runs and Ireland by 9 runs.
Nigar Sultana’s team are at the top of the table with 8 points after winning 4 out of the 4 matches. As they are the group champions and have qualified for the ‘Super Six’.
Ireland finished second with 6 points and the United States finished third with 4 points from Bangladesh’s group and got a ticket to the ‘Super Six’.
As a result, the points won against these two teams will be next to Bangladesh’s name in the ‘Super Six’. That is, the Tigresses have 4 points in 2 matches in the ‘Super Six’.
Thailand advanced to the ‘Super Six’ from the third place in the table with 4 points from 2 wins and 2 losses in 4 matches in Group ‘B’.
The Netherlands and Scotland advanced to the ‘Super Six’ from that group. But Thailand could not win against the Netherlands and Scotland. Therefore, Thailand will play empty-handed in the ‘Super Six’.
Sharmin Akhter scored the highest run for Bangladesh in the group stage. She scored 156 runs in 4 innings with 2 half-centuries at a strike rate of 118.18.
Sobhana Mostari scored the second highest 123 runs. Dilara Akhter is in third place in the list with 112 runs.
Spinner Rabeya Khan is the successful bowler for Bangladesh in bowling. She took 7 wickets for 99 runs in 4 innings. Besides, Sanjida Akter Meghla took 5 wickets, Fahima Khatun, Nahida Akter and Ritu Moni took 4 wickets each.
Bangladesh will play Scotland and the Netherlands in their last two matches in the ‘Super Six’, respectively. The Tigresses will face the Scottish on January 30 in Kirtipur and the Dutch on February 1 in Mulpani.
The top four teams in the ‘Super Six’ will get tickets for the main stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
