Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee of West Bengal in recognition of his long acting career, he has been awarded the prestigious ‘Padma Shri’ by the Government of India.
‘Mr Industry’ has been basking in the tide of congratulations since the list of ‘Padma’ recipients was published by the Central Government of India.
However, at the moment of this huge achievement, he appeared very humble and emotional.
He became especially nostalgic when talking about his mother and his
late friend and director Rituparno Ghosh.
After receiving the award, Prosenjit said, “I am very grateful to the Government of India for considering me worthy of this honor.
However, this achievement is not just mine. The directors, technicians, producers, and co-stars who have worked with me over the past 40 years are also equal partners in this.
Without them, I would not have been the Prosenjit Chatterjee I am today.”
From his own personal feelings, he further said, “Today I miss my son Mishuk very much.
And most of all, I miss my mother. Without whom I could not have become Prosenjit.”
“Also, I miss my friend Rituparno Ghosh intensely today. She was the first to discover that there was a different kind of actor hidden inside me.
If Ritu were alive today, I would probably be the happiest,” he added.
It is worth mentioning that Prosenjit started his journey as a child artiste in the film ‘Chhotto Jigyasa’ directed by his father Biswajit Chatterjee in 1968.
However, the incredible success of the film ‘Amar Sangee’ put him on the throne of Tollywood.
