BD Youth take on England in ‘Super Six’

Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team will face England Under-19 Cricket team in their first match of the ‘Super Six’ phase of the ICC Under-19 ODI World Cup at Bulawayo in Zimbabwe today.
The match will start at 1:30pm. Captain of Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team Azizul Hakim will lead his side, while Captain of England Under-19 Cricket team Thomas Rew will lead his side.
The Bangladeshi youth team aim to start the ‘Super Six’ with a win.
According to the tournament rules, the teams will play two matches each in the ‘Super Six’. Bangladesh will play against Zimbabwe in their second and last match after England on January 31.
Bangladesh start the ‘Super Six’ under pressure. Because the points from the group stage will be added to the ‘Super Six’.
Bangladesh’s opponents in Group ‘B’ were India, New Zealand and the United States. After losing to India, Bangladesh shared the points with New Zealand due to rain.
They defeated the United States in the last match to secure the ‘Super Six’.
Bangladesh finished second in the table with 3 points from 3 matches and became the group runners-up.
Apart from Bangladesh, India and New Zealand will advance to the ‘Super Six’ from this group.
As a result, Azizul Hakim’s team will not get any points due to their loss to India. But Bangladesh will enter the ‘Super Six’ with 1 point as they shared the points against New Zealand.
The top three teams in Group ‘B’ will compete with the teams in Group ‘C’ in the Super Six. England, Pakistan and Zimbabwe have secured the ‘Super Six’ from Group ‘C’.
As per the rules, the Group ‘C’ champions and third-placed team will play the runners-up in Group ‘B’, Bangladesh.
They do not have a match with Group ‘C’ runners-up Pakistan.
Bangladesh lost to India in their first match in the group stage by 18 runs due to rain.
Batting first, India was all out for 238 runs in 48.4 overs. Bangladesh were given a target of 165 runs in 29 overs to win due to rain. In reply, they were all out for 146 runs with 3 balls remaining.
After the match against New Zealand was abandoned due to rain. Bangladesh faced the United States. Batting first, the United States were bowled out for 199. Iqbal Hossain Emon was the successful bowler and pacer for Bangladesh, taking 3 wickets for 41 runs.
In reply, Captain Azizul Hakim’s half-century secured victory with 51 balls to spare. Azizul scored 64 runs off 82 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes.
