Tanzid Hasan hits ton: Rajshahi Warriors champions in BPL

Rajshahi Warriors emerged the champions in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket after defeating Chattogram Royals by 63 runs in the final at the flood-lit Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Friday. Opener Tanzid Hasan played the key role for his team’s massive total.
Tanzid hammered a hurricane 100. His 62-ball innings was laced with seven sixes and six fours. Tanzid Hasan was adjudged the Player of the Final for his match-winning knock.
Sent into bat first, Rajshahi Warriors piled up a mammoth total of 174 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then bundled out Chattogram Royals for 111 off 17.5 overs.
Rajshahi Warriors had a formidable start with two openers Sahibzada Farhan and Tanzid Hasan put up 83 runs for the opening partnership before Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed by Mukidul Islam.
Farhan hit a run-a-ball 30 with two fours and one sixer. After Farhan’s dismissal, Tanzid Hasan and Kane Williamson built another remarkable partnership scoring together 47 runs in the second wicket stand before Kane Williamson was dismissed by Shoriful Islam when Rajshahi’s total was 130 for the loss of two wickets.
After Williamson’s departure, Tanzid Hasan and James Neesham added together 33 runs for the third wicket partnership before Tanzid Hasan was dismissed by Mukidul Islam when Rajshahi’s score was 163 for the loss of three wickets.
Najmul Hossain Shanto (11) was caught & bowled by Shoriful Islam when Rajshahi’s innings came to an end.
Mukidul Islam and Shoriful Islam bagged two wickets each instead of 20 and 33 runs respectively.
Chattogram Royals lost their wickets in regular intervals. They failed to make any notable partnership.
Opener Mirza Baig was the only batter of Chattogram Royals who fought back against the superb, tight and controlled bowling attack of Rajshahi’s bowlers.
Binura Fernando captured four wickets in the space of nine runs.
Hasan Murad grabbed three wickets at the cost of 15 runs, while James Neesham claimed two wickets in lieu of 24 runs. Abdul Gaffar took one wicket for 24 runs.
Mirza Baig hit a polished 39. His 36-ball innings had two fours and a six.
