Huge polls campaigning begins in Barishal

Propagation of Electioneering for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (national parliament) polls officially began with a festive atmosphere across Barishal.
Contesting candidates and party activists taking the streets in large numbers on the first day of campaigning on Thursday with procession and distribution of propagation leaflets.
Major political parties, including the BNP, Islami Andolan Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD), separately carried out campaign activities in the Barishal divisional city.
BNP-nominated candidate Mujibur Rahman Sarwar started his campaign around 1:30pm Thursday by distributing leaflets in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall. He greeted people along both sides of the road, shaking hands and seeking their support. The BNP procession moved through Sadar Road and Hospital Road to Kaunia before concluding at the candidate’s residence.
Hundreds of party leaders and activists, carrying leaflets and party symbols, joined the rally, drawing large crowds along the roadside.Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate Mufti Syed Md Faizul Karim formally launched his campaign at around noon from in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall.
A large number of supporters carrying the party’s hand fan symbol accompanied him.
Besides Sadar Road, and most of the important road party activists distributed leaflets on several key roads in support of the candidate.
BSD candidate Dr Manisha Chakraborty began her campaign from the Central Shaheed Minar premises, carrying the hand fan symbol.
Alongside BSD leaders and activists, members of the Jukta Front also sought votes for Dr Manisha during the campaign.
According to election officials, a total of 36 candidates are contesting in the six parliamentary constituencies of Barishal district in the final race.
