Trader fined Tk 20k for adulterating spices

In Shibganj Upazila of Chapainawabganj, a spice trader has been fined Tk 20,000 by a mobile court for producing adulterated spices and operating a business without government approval. At the same time, 191 kg of spoiled dried chili that was seized has been destroyed.
The operation was conducted on Wednesday, at the premises of Messrs Niha Muni Rice and Oil Mill located near Pailing Mor in Shibganj Upazila. During the raid, Shariful Islam, owner of Messrs Raihan Enterprise, was caught red-handed producing spices in unhygienic conditions.
Later, a mobile court, led by the Upazila Executive Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ashik Ahmed, was conducted. Under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, Shariful Islam was fined Tk 20,000, and the seized 191 kg of spoiled dried chili was burned and destroyed.
