NN Report:
A wave of reactions has swept social media as Zia Haq’s latest blend of poetry and music triggers admiration and viral discussion.
Revolutionary poems and songs written by poet Zia Haq, centered on Sharif Osman Hadi, the convener of Inqilab Mancha, have created a massive stir across social media. Within just a few days, the combined view count of these poems and songs has crossed hundreds of millions, placing them firmly at the center of public discussion.
Four days ago, Zia Haq became the top global search on Reels, surpassing even recent international sensations like Zohran Mamdani.
The song “Hadir Zindabad,” written by Zia Haq and sung by artist Abu Ubaida, garnered 8.5 million views in just two days on Abu Ubaida’s Facebook page and has now crossed 11 million views. On YouTube, it has surpassed 3 million views.
The trailer of another song, “Cultural Hero,” released on Friday, reached one million views within a single day on Facebook. The full version has not yet been released on YouTube.
The poem “Guli-Tuli Hadider Chul Tao Chhẽre Na” crossed 12 million views within two days of publication. Notably, on Victory Day, it surpassed 10 million views, setting a new record. At the same time, the song “Hadi Tui Firey Aay,” sung by Abu Ubaida and released on YouTube, crossed 5 million views, gaining widespread popularity.
These poems and songs are not only trending on YouTube but are also being widely shared on Instagram and TikTok, receiving praise and intense public engagement. View statistics show that Osman Gani’s account has generated 6.2 million views, while Mohiuddin Hasan Khan’s account has contributed 2 million views so far.
Several verses from “Hadir Zindabad” are being shared thousands of times on Facebook. Lines from the poem have appeared as wall graffiti in different places. Countless listeners are reciting or singing the verses and sharing them on their own walls. Parents are performing them with their children, and teachers with their students—further amplifying the poem’s reach.
Researcher and thinker Aman Abdullah wrote on Facebook:
“‘Hadi, Umar’s half-world wrapped in a cool mat’—after Farrukh, I have not seen such a balanced and authentic metaphor that connects Bengal so beautifully with global civilizational history and Islam.”
Writer and presenter Iqbal Khandakar commented:
“This is not a song; it is a roar. Although countless timeless songs were written about our Liberation War, no movement afterward produced a song worth mentioning. Even the July uprising was carried forward with old songs and poems—especially those of Nazrul. Nothing new truly touched people’s hearts. Then came Hadi. He was shot, and suddenly an unforgettable song was born—‘Hadi Tui Firey Aay.’ Written by Zia Haq, sung by Abu Ubaida. What lyrics, what a melody, what vocal power! I never imagined a song could contain such blood-chilling intensity.”
He added: “This single song is enough to keep Hadi alive. Even if one day his name is no longer spoken, if this song plays, Hadi will stand before us again. And the younger generation will learn that one can give up life while smiling.”
Many prominent figures—including Barrister Tajul Islam, Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, and DUCSU VP Sadiq Qayem, along with politicians, journalists, writers, and intellectuals—have shared “Hadir Zindabad” on Facebook.
Speaking about the response, poet Zia Haqu said: “In an age where it is often said that poetry has lost its relevance, such a response was unimaginable for me. A few poems and songs have touched the hearts of millions. Over the past week, I have received thousands of messages on Facebook. I managed to read some of them—each filled with overwhelming emotion and love. Listeners are sending voice notes with trembling voices and tearful affection. It is truly astonishing. This priceless love will inspire me to continue writing.”
Many writers, columnists, and intellectuals have described “Hadir Zindabad” as a masterpiece.
Meanwhile, artist Abu Ubaida has announced that he will donate the entire income from his YouTube channel over the next month to Hadi’s family as a gift.
In addition, recitation artists Mrinmoy Mizan, Dripra Hasan, Kathor Hasan, and thousands of listeners have already performed recitations of these poems and songs, further expanding their popularity and impact.
