Protest erupts over shoddy road work

Allegations of serious irregularities have surfaced in road renovation work in Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari, where discarded coal was allegedly used instead of crushed stone in concrete casting. In protest, local residents formed a human chain on Saturday.

The protest was held in the Paschimpura area as part of the renovation of the approximately 6.9-kilometre road stretching from Barobhita Bazar to Kochukata. Speakers at the human chain included local residents Shamsuzzaman Samu, Omar Faruk, Afzal Hossain, among others.
