Woman’s slit-throat body discovered in Kuakata

Police have recovered the throat slit dead body of a housewife named Arifa Akhtar (17) from a rented house in Kuakata under Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district on early Tuesday.

The body was recovered in a bloody state from the rented house of Abdus Sattar in Ward No. 3 of Kuakata Municipality area under Mohipur Police Station at around 12:10 am Tuesday.

Mahipur Police Station OC Mohabbat Khan said that her husband Rifat Hossain , 21, was taken into police custody as his words were incoherent.

The recovered dead body of wife has been sent to Patuakhali morgue for autopsy and husband sent to Patuakhali district jail on Tuesday noon. Further legal action is being taken.

The deceased Arifa is the daughter of Khalek Howlader of Barogati area of Torki Bandar under Gournadi upazila of Barishal district .

Her husband is the son of the deceased Anwar Hossain Howlader of the same area.
According to police and local sources, they living in Kuakata area four months ago. Husband Rifat worked in a restaurant in Kuakata coastal town.

The couple did not have good communication with their families because they married for love. However, they used to quarrel occasionally.

Hearing the sound of crying suddenly at midnight, local people went inside the house and saw the housewife lying on the floor in a bloody state.

At that time, husband Rifat was sitting next to her and crying. Then police was called and Rifat was handed over to police.
