Rescued injured tiger slowly recovers

Khulna Correspondent :

A critically injured tiger rescued from the Chandpai range of the Sundarbans East Forest Division is showing gradual signs of recovery.

The tiger is currently under treatment at the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Khulna, according to a Press briefing, held at Khulna Press Club on Wednesday noon.

Conservator of Forest, Khulna Region Imran Ahmed, DFO West Sundarbans Division AZM Hasanur Rahman, DFO East Sundarbans Division Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and others forest officials were present during the press briefing.

Forest officials said the tiger was in a very weak condition when rescued. Since receiving medical care, it has started drinking water and eating, and its mobility is slowly returning to normal.

Under the supervision of veterinary officers from the Forest Department, the tiger is being monitored and treated around the clock. For advanced treatment, advice has been sought from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Bangladesh Agricultural University.

Specialist veterinary teams from Dhaka and other regions have also visited Khulna to examine the tiger on-site.
Experts reported that no severe external injuries or wounds were found on the tiger, and there are no indications of serious diseases.

They are optimistic that the tiger could fully recover in due course and may eventually be released back into the Sundarbans.

The Forest Department emphasized that the tiger remains under intensive observation. Being a wild animal, close human contact could increase the risk of infection, so all care and treatment are conducted from a safe distance.
