Elderly woman dies in kitchen fire

A woman named Anwara Begum (65) died after being burned when her clothes caught fire while she was warming herself in the kitchen due to severe cold in Fatullah, Narayanganj.

She passed away on Sunday while undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Earlier, on Saturday (January 3) afternoon, Anwara Begum was sitting in front of the stove in the kitchen to warm herself when her clothes accidentally caught fire.

Her elder son, Anwar Hossain, rescued her and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit, where she was admitted for treatment.

The deceased Anwara Begum was the wife of late Abdul Aziz and lived in a rented house in the Kayempur area under Fatullah Model Police Station in Narayanganj.

Fatullah Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Mannan confirmed the incident.
