Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday commended the longstanding service of the Bangladesh Armed Forces in safeguarding national security and advancing the country’s development and nation-building efforts.
Highlighting the military’s consistent support to citizens during times of emergency, he urged the forces to take on a historic responsibility in the forthcoming national election and referendum scheduled for February.
“I take pride in witnessing the advancement of our armed forces and their sustained contribution to national defence, development, and nation-building. Your dedication to protecting the nation has been remarkable,” he said.
He made the remarks while speaking at the graduation ceremony of the National Defence Course (NDC) and Armed Forces War Course (AFWC) 2025 at the National Defence College in Mirpur Cantonment in the capital.
The Chief Adviser also praised the forces for their steadfast role during natural disasters, political turmoil, and health emergencies, saying these efforts reflect their preparedness and unwavering commitment to public welfare.
He further noted that Bangladesh’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions has strengthened the country’s image on the global stage.
“We must also shoulder a historic responsibility in the upcoming national elections and the February referendum, ensuring they become not only milestones in our history but also peaceful and celebratory events,” he said.
“Let us turn the polls into a festive moment for all voters so the nation may remember with pride that they witnessed a transformative event,” he added.
