Students to get textbooks in early January: Bidhan

Staff Reporter :

Primary and Mass Education Adviser Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar on Saturday said that schoolchildren will receive their new textbooks at the very beginning of next January.
“Many of the books have already been sent to district-level authorities, and we have taken extensive measures to improve the quality of primary education,” he told reporters.
He made the remarks after attending a seminar at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Bhola as the chief guest.

The seminar, titled “Strategy for Completion of Infrastructure Construction Activities under PEDP-4 and the Demand-Based Development Project for Government Primary Schools,” was jointly organised by the Bhola district administration and the Primary and Mass Education Department.
Highlighting the importance of teachers, Bidhan said, “Teachers are the backbone of primary education. They provide the core instruction, and we have consistently worked to improve their conditions.”

He noted that headmasters’ positions have been upgraded to the 10th grade, while initiatives are underway to elevate assistant teachers to the 11th grade.

He added that directives have been issued to repair primary schools designated as polling centres for the upcoming 13th national election.

Later in the day, the adviser spoke as chief guest at a discussion titled “The Role of Stakeholders in Improving the Quality of Primary Education” at the Bhola Zila Parishad auditorium.

The event was chaired by Bhola Deputy Commissioner Shamim Rahman, with Additional Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Atikur Rahman attending as special guest.
