BSRB, BSTI sign MoU to boost safe ship recycling

The Bangladesh Ship Recycling Board (BSRB) and the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) formalised a partnership Thursday with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aiming to strengthen standards and safety in the country’s ship recycling sector.

The ceremony, held at the Ministry of Industries conference room, brought together top officials, including Md Obaidur Rahman, secretary of the Ministry of Industries; SM Ferdous Alam, director general (Grade-1) of BSTI; and ASM Shafiul Alam Talukder, director general of BSRB.

Senior representatives from the three institutions also attended, underlining a shared commitment to modernising and regulating ship recycling operations, according to a press release.
