New York, USA / Dhaka, Bangladesh:
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has been honored with two prestigious recognitions from the New York State Assembly and the New York State Senate for its outstanding contribution, visionary leadership, and commitment to sustainability in the global apparel industry. These honors mark a remarkable milestone in Bangladesh’s journey as a global leader in ethical, innovative, and high-quality apparel manufacturing.
The New York State Assembly Citation was presented in recognition of BGMEA’s exceptional participation in the 4th New York International Trade Fair & Chamber Expo 2025, held at the Marriott Marquis, Times Square, New York, on September 26, 2025. The event was jointly organized by the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bangladesh–USA Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BUCCI), and the New York International Trade Fair Inc.
The New York State Senate Certificate of Recognition, signed by Senator Luis R. Sepúlveda (32nd Senate District), lauded BGMEA for its visionary leadership in strengthening Bangladesh–U.S. trade relations and for promoting sustainable and responsible business practices across the global apparel sector. BGMEA President Mr. Mahmud Hasan Khan attended the Fair and personally received the certificate on behalf of the association.
The Fair was inaugurated by Ms. Kelly Loeffler, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), who attended as the Chief Guest and officially opened the event. Distinguished participants included Mr. Dilip Chauhan from the NYC Mayor’s Office; Mr. Mark Jaffe, President and CEO of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce; Mr. David Dewey, Mayor from Florida; Ms. Victoria McDougal, Executive Producer of the world’s largest fashion television network; Mr. Cesare Costantini from Diplomatic & Social Review; and Ms. Gloria Starr Kins, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Society & Diplomatic Review and veteran UN Correspondent, who also attended as Chief Guest of a special session.
These dual recognitions from the State of New York symbolize international acknowledgment of Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector as a global benchmark for sustainability, ethical production, and innovation.
The BGMEA leadership expressed deep appreciation to the New York State Assembly, Senator Luis R. Sepúlveda, and the organizing bodies for this honor, emphasizing that it represents a historic milestone for Bangladesh’s apparel industry. The association reaffirmed its continued commitment to advancing sustainability, ethical sourcing, and innovation—the very principles that have established Bangladesh as the world’s second-largest apparel exporter and a trusted partner in global fashion excellence.
