Khulna post big win in NCL

Khulna Division posted a big seven-wicket win over Barishal Division on Day 3 in their first four-day National Cricket League (NCL) at Khulna Divisional Stadium on Monday.

Batting first Khulna Division piled up a mammoth total of 313 runs in their first innings.

Khulna lost their seven wickets for 193 runs. Ziaur Rahman and Sheikh Parvez Rahman salvaged their team and helped their team to cross 300 runs.

Ziaur Rahman hit a captain’s knock of 69. His 91-ball innings was studded with four sixes and five fours.

Parvez Rahman notched up a superb 73 runs. His 98-ball knock was laced with five sixes and five fours.

Besides, wicketkeeper-batter Imranuzzaman made 43 off 78 balls, while Soumya Sarkar scored 62-ball 37 and Anamul Haque Bijoy made 30 off 44 balls.

Ruyel Mia and Mooen Khan of Barishal Division grabbed three wickets each. Barishal Division scored 126 runs in the first innings.

Wizard spinner Afif Hossain hit a hat-trick with six wickets in the space of 31 runs. Afif Hossain was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Thus, Barishal Division conceded follow-on. Barishal Division made 119 runs for the loss of four wickets before the bails were drawn for the second day.

Yesterday Barishal Division added more 105 runs losing rest of the six wickets. Overall Barishal Division made 224 runs in the second innings.

Shamsur Rahman of Barishal top-scored with 44 runs, while Iftekhar Hossain made 40 runs. Afif Hossain bagged two wickets. Barishal Division set up a 38 runs to win for Khulna Division.

Khulna Division reached the winning target scoring 38 runs for the loss of three wickets in 19.5 overs. They lost Anamul Haque Bijoy, Soumya Sarkar and Imranuzzaman to cruise into the victory target.
