UNICEF medical team visits Kishoreganj

A UNICEF medical team visited government hospitals in Bangladesh as part of ongoing support for the country’s health system, particularly focusing on improving newborn care in facilities, including Kishoreganj 250- bed General Hospital, to address health issues and support the healthcare system, especially during the dengue outbreak.
This initiative, which includes upgrading equipment in Special Newborn Care Units (SCANUs), is aimed at reducing preventable deaths and improving maternal and newborn health.
Their visited focuse on providing support through medical assistance, improving health infrastructure, and enhancing community health awareness and hygiene.
Focus on newborn care: The visits are part of a larger effort to support the government’s goal of improving maternal and newborn health and reducing neonatal mortality rates.
In the Kishoreganj 250- bed General Hospital , a UNICEF-supported team upgraded the SCANU, which enabled immediate treatment for newborns with critical conditions, such as respiratory problems, as shown in an account of a new mother and her baby.
