Govt creates 2,258 new posts in BGB organogram

The government has approved the creation of 2,258 new posts in the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) organogram across various ranks of the paramilitary force, a senior official at the Home Ministry said on Tuesday. n”The newly created positions range from director to sepoy level, in accordance with BGB’s operational requirements,” an official familiar with the process reveals it to journalists.
With this expansion, the total number of sanctioned posts in BGB will rise to 59,735 from the existing 57,477.
Officials involved in the process said the Home Ministry had earlier proposed the creation of these posts, which were approved by the Committee of Secretaries on Administrative Development on September 10 and subsequently endorsed by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
According to an official document obtained by BSS, the revised organogram
includes three new directors, nine additional directors, and nine deputy directors in BGB.
These officers will be posted to the force on deputation from the Armed Forces Division, with the director-level posts corresponding to the ranks of lieutenant colonel, major, and captain respectively.
The updated structure also provides for the deputation of three police inspectors to BGB.
The remaining posts will be filled under the existing BGB recruitment regulations.
The new positions include: three subedars major (all categories), 57 nayeb subedars (all categories), 240 habildars (all categories), 285 nayeks (all categories), 15 lance nayeks (office assistant), 327 lance nayeks (all categories), 15 soldiers (office assistant), and 1,221 soldiers or sepoys (all categories).
Among the civilian staff to be recruited are three imams, three accountants, three upper division clerks, three office assistant-cum-computer typists, three midwives, and three office associates.
Several of the newly created positions are designated to strengthen manpower at BGB’s Guimara Hospital, including seven habildars (all categories), three nayeks (all categories), six lance nayeks (all categories), and 14 soldiers (all categories).
