July Memorial Museum to open in Nov

News Desk :

Authorities have said the construction of the July Memorial Museum will be completed by October, with its inauguration set for the first week of November.

They added that the museum will present historical accounts of Sheikh Hasina’s 16 years in power, including the Pilkhana massacre, the disappearance and murder at “Aynaghor”, the Shapla massacre, and alleged vote rigging.

A notification from the Chief Advisor’s Office (CAO) said the museum construction authority briefed Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus about the project in a meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday, reports bdnews24.com.

Cultural Affairs Advisor Mostofa Sarwar Farooki said, “We are curating images of Hasina’s misrule for display in the museum, so that the 16 years of ‘fascism’ and the atrocities carried out under instructions from Ganabhaban are remembered.

“Many audio recordings of her ordering disappearances and murders are being preserved in the museum. “The exhibit will also showcase how Hasina used to call the families of the victims and offer false comfort.” Yunus thanked everyone involved in the museum’s construction and expressed hope that visitors will feel the energy of the crowd at Ganabhaban on Aug 5, 2024. “Bringing this sense of strong resistance against misrule among the people is a major task of this museum.” The museum will also feature a screening centre showing documentaries on the events during the July Uprising.
