Dengue claims 4 lives

Four more people have died of dengue in 24 hours till Sunday morning, pushing the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 122 this year in Bangladesh.

The latest fatalities were reported from the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

According to the DGHS daily update, fresh cases were detected as follows: 110 in Barishal division (outside city corporations), 93 in Chattogram division (outside CC), 39 in Rajshahi (outside CC), 42 in Khulna division (outside CC), 16 in Mymensingh (outside CC), 114 in Dhaka division (outside CC), 67 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 82 in Dhaka South City Corporation, and three in Sylhet division (outside CC).

In the last 24 hours, 568 new patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue fever, raising the total number of reported cases this year to 31,476.
Currently, 1,486 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals across the country.
Last year, the disease claimed 575 lives, while 101,214 cases were recorded, including 100,040 recoveries, according to DGHS data.
