Stocks extend gaining streak

Country’s both the bourses– Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)– on Sunday witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued showing renewed buying interest particularly on banking and textile sector stocks.
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, advanced by 51.2 points or 1.0 percent (pc) to settle at 5,401 points compared to 5,350 points in the previous trading session, reports BSS.
Market analysts observed that the market commenced with a strong bullish momentum, which sustained throughout the session till the closing bell.
On the sectoral front, Bank (18.1pc) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharmaceutical (16.7pc) and Textile (11.1pc) sectors.
Sectors mostly displayed positive returns, out of which Textile (2.3pc), Bank (2.0pc) and Paper (1.2pc) showed the most gains on the bourse on Sunday.
