Cycling contest held in Joypurhat to mark July rebirth celebration

A cycling competition was held in Joypurhat on the occasion of the July Rebirth Celebration. The competition started from the District Collectorate premises on Friday (August 1) morning. Later, it covered 15 kilometers via Battali Pakarmatha and ended at the Collectorate grounds. About two hundred students participated in the competition.
The first place winner of the competition was awarded 20,000 taka and 40 others were awarded. All the participants of the competition were given consolation prizes.
Deputy Commissioner (Joint Secretary) Afroza Akhtar Chowdhury, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bipul Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police Sheikh Md. Jinnah Al Mamun, District BNP Convener Golzar Hossain and others were present at the award ceremony.
Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akhtar Chowdhury said that this event is to commemorate July-August, as well as to curb speed in July, to promote physical development of students, and to develop a greater interest in studies by staying away from drugs.
