No internet disruption in Gopalganj, says government

NN Online:

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has denied any internet shutdown in Gopalganj following Wednesday’s violence, dismissing such claims as “deliberate misinformation.”

In a statement issued the same day, the ministry affirmed, “The government is committed to ensuring uninterrupted mobile and broadband internet services nationwide. Under no circumstances will internet services be shut down.”

The ministry clarified that the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) had not issued any directive to suspend or restrict internet access in Gopalganj or elsewhere.

Dismissing the rumors as baseless, the statement accused “autocratic elements and their allies” of intentionally spreading falsehoods to mislead the public and incite unrest.

The ministry urged individuals and organisations to fact-check before circulating information to avoid creating confusion or unnecessary panic.
