‘Blockade’ programme held in Sylhet to protest attack in Gopalganj

Sylhet Bureau :
Party leaders and activists have taken to the field in Sylhet as part of the blockade programme called across the country to protest the attack on the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) rally in Gopalganj.

On Wednesday (July 16), the protesters held a blockade program at Chowhatta Point in Sylhet city from 4:30 pm and marched towards Chandipul with a procession at 5:30 pm.

At around 5:45 pm, leaders and activists of different levels of the party started the protest by blocking the Sylhet-Dhaka highway at Chandipul. At this time, the entire Awami League and the banned student organization Chhatra League became vocal with opposition slogans.

Later, around 6 pm, the blockade was lifted and they took a position next to the highway and a leader of the party said that since the top leaders of the NCP were able to reach a safe location from Gopalganj, it was decided to withdraw from the public welfare program.
He said that if there are any new instructions from the center later, they will continue the program accordingly.
