All involved in Sohag’s murder will face justice: Home Adviser

NN Online:

Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has vowed that all individuals involved in the brutal killing of scrap metal trader Sohag in Dhaka’s Mitford area will be held accountable.

“All culprits behind the murder will be brought to justice,” he said during a visit to the Dhaka Police Lines, Range Reserve Force, and Traffic and Driving School at the Old Dhaka mail barrack on Saturday.

Describing the incident as deeply tragic, the adviser said five suspects have already been arrested, including two who were caught with firearms by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Another suspect was apprehended by police last night, he added.

He noted that multiple Detective Branch (DB) teams are actively investigating the case to identify and capture all involved.

Urging the public to remain calm, Jahangir said, “No one should take the law into their own hands. If something happens, inform law enforcement — they will take appropriate action.”

He also highlighted the swift action taken by authorities, citing the rapid arrests in both the Sohag case and recent incidents in Chandpur.

The adviser visited the mail barrack to inspect facilities ahead of launching a new training programme aimed at ensuring a free and fair election.

In response to a question, he said, “We are preparing for the election by December. The Election Commission will announce the date.”
