‘Protect every inch of BD territory’

Border Guard Bangladesh’s (BGB) director general Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui on Thursday asked newly recruited soldiers of the paramilitary force to protect every inch of the motherland even at the cost of their lives.

“I firmly believe that the new soldiers will give their lives if necessary to protect the integrity of the motherland, but will not let even an inch of the country’s soil to be lost,” he told the closing parade of the BGB’ 103rd recruit batch, reports BSS.

The BGB chief asked the new soldiers not to show softness towards the opponents under any circumstances adding “the new soldiers must never disappoint the countrymen. These new soldiers will be the symbol of security and trust of the border”.

The parade was held at Bir Uttam Mujibur Rahman Parade Ground of the BGB Training Center and College (BGTC&C) at Baitul Izzat in Satkania of Chittagong.
Siddiqui highly praised the BGB personnel for their intense efforts to ensure uninterrupted sleep of the countrymen.

He described the BGB as ‘watchful guardian of the border’, saying they were constantly securing Bangladesh’s 4,427-kilometer-long border and discharging their task they were preventing smuggling of drugs, weapons and other illegal goods alongside trafficking of women and children and suppressing any kind of cross-border crimes.
“Not only that, the BGB is also able to perform its duties with great trust and reputation in assisting the civil administration in maintaining internal law and order in the country,” the chief of the paramilitary force said.
The BGB chief has asked the new soldiers to carry out any assigned duty in an orderly and efficient manner being inspired and motivated by the four main mottos of the BGB – ‘morale, brotherhood, discipline and efficiency’.
