Bangladesh-US tariff talks: Second round begins today

NN Online:
The second round of negotiations between Bangladesh and the United States on the proposed Agreement on Reciprocal Tariff begins today (July 9) in Washington, DC, and will continue through July 11, 2025.

According to a statement from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, Bangladesh is among the first countries to resume talks following U.S. President Donald Trump’s formal letter to the leaders of 14 countries on July 7, inviting them to move forward with tariff discussions.

Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin is leading the Bangladesh delegation and is participating in person in Washington. National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman is joining the discussions virtually from Dhaka.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce—including the Commerce Secretary and an Additional Secretary—have also arrived in Washington to attend the talks.

Bangladesh aims to build on the momentum from the first round of constructive negotiations held on June 27 and is hopeful of reaching a swift and mutually beneficial agreement, the statement added.
