Shahjalal airport enhances security with stricter baggage checks
NN Online:
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) has ramped up its security measures to bolster passenger safety and protect aviation operations at the country’s busiest airport.
In a notice issued Monday night, HSIA authorities announced that stricter baggage screening protocols have been put in place. These include enhanced checks for VIP and VVIP passengers and mandatory manual inspection of high-risk baggage following initial screening via metal detectors and X-ray machines.
To ensure smooth implementation, all Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel are undergoing regular briefings and receiving updated operational instructions.
Special directives have also been issued to the airport’s CCTV surveillance team, while new procedures now require prior approval and proper documentation for any firearms entering the airport premises.
In case of any security breach, investigation committees will be formed by the relevant agencies. Preventive measures will also be introduced based on the findings to prevent similar incidents in the future, the airport authority stated.
