BD in search of best swimmer, 44 ‘yes cards’ awarded

The Bangladesh Swimming Federation’s national talent hunt program, “Bangladesh in Search of the Best Swimmer,” has successfully concluded its Khulna Division phase. Held on Monday at the Women’s Sports Complex swimming pool in Sonadanga, Khulna city, the event featured the selection of promising young swimmers from the districts of Khulna, Bagerhat, and Satkhira.
A total of 44 swimmers were awarded ‘Yes Cards’-a mark of selection for the next phase of the program-demonstrating their potential to represent Bangladesh at the highest levels of competition.
The national talent hunt, launched on May 10, was inaugurated by Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan at the National Swimming Complex in Mirpur, Dhaka.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Swimming Federation to discover and develop elite swimming talent from across all 64 districts of Bangladesh.
The selection is being conducted in two age categories: 9 to 11 years and 12 to 15 years So far, eight regional venues have been designated for the trials, with Khulna serving as one of the key selection centers.
During the closing ceremony in Khulna, the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Swimming Federation formally handed over the ‘Yes Cards’ to the selected swimmers. Present at the event were notable guests including: Krira Sazia Afrin, Assistant Director of the National Sports Council, Lieutenant Commander Fahim, Bangladesh Navy.
Both expressed optimism about the potential of the selected swimmers and reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to providing full support-including training facilities, coaching, and logistical assistance-to those who qualify through the talent search.
Also present at the event were: Members of the Khulna Venue Selection Committee, Federation officials: Mahabubur Rahman, Md. Solaiman, M.H. Dhali, Nazimuddin Julius, Jyotindranath Biswas, Md. Alauddin, and Shahajahan Rony, Venue representative GM Rezaul Islam, Representatives from the District Sports Association: Md. Saiful Islam, Shahnaz Khatun, Mahfuzur Rahman Shila, Jewel Ahmed, among others.
The nationwide initiative reflects a long-term vision to nurture young aquatic athletes and boost Bangladesh’s performance in swimming on international platforms.
