Badhon urges hall owners, producers to take risks

Sheikh Arif Bulbon :

The movie ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ turned the career of actress Azmeri Haque Badhon around.
Then the actress almost said that she wants to work on female-led stories based projects.
Finally, four years after the release of ‘Rahana Maryam Noor’, the film ‘Esha Murder: Karmaphal’ starring Badhon has been released this Eid-ul-Azha.
The movie has been screening at Cineplexes since Eid. This actress is running around theatres every day to get the audience’s reactions.
She requested the single screen hall owners to take the risk of screening the movie ‘Esha Murder: Karmaphal’.
The audience will also like the movie because of the belief in actress Badhon. While talking in this regard, Badhon told this correspondent, “‘Esha Murder: Karmaphal’ is a movie that can be shown on a single screen. I would like to tell single screen movie lovers, take a risk and try movie ‘Esha Murder: Karmaphal’. I believe people will like this movie. My mother and mine two of house helpers left the theatre crying after watching the movie. Not because they love me, but because they were able to connect with the story and characters of the movie. So, I urge you to take the risk and watch it. It’s not okay to always show the same kind of movies. You have a responsibility. Stay with us; help the film industry move forward.”
The number of films with female-led storylines in Bangladesh is low. In such a situation, expressing gratitude to the director and producer of the film ‘Esha Murder: Karmaphal’, Badhon said, “Our industry is so dominated by men that no one dares to work on female-led stories. In that case, ‘Esha Murder: Karmaphal’ is an exception. I am grateful to the director and producer for this. They bravely released the movie on Eid.”
Although the audience was low on Eid day, the audience for the movie ‘Esha Murder: Karmaphal’ is gradually increasing later.
Badhon is happy with the audience’s response. The actress urged other producers to take risks to make such films in the future.
According to Badhon, “I was very upset to see the number of viewers on the first day. Since then, the number of viewers has been increasing every day. I am happy because our society may not be ready yet to watch movies without a hero. But the audience has proven that they are ready to watch such movies. Directors and producers have to take these kinds of risks. Media is not just a place to make money or entertain. There is an opportunity here to do something for the society. If you come forward, the media can play a big role in changing society.”
Sunny Sanwar has made ‘Esha Murder: Karmaphal’. In it, Badhon plays the role of police officer named Lina, who is tasked with solving the murder mystery. The film also stars Faruk Ahmed, Misha Sawdagor, Shatabdi Wadud, Sumit Sengupta, Sharif Siraj, Puja Agnes Cruze, and others.
