Touhid urges Sri Lanka to increase Bangladeshi pharmaceuticals import

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Tuesday called upon Sri Lanka to increase its import of pharmaceutical products from Bangladesh, highlighting the strength, global standards, and competitiveness of the country’s pharmaceutical sector.

He made the remarks when Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dharmapala Weerakkody paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here.

During the meeting, both sides discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, with particular emphasis on enhancing cooperation in sectors such as trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, information and communication technology (ICT), education, and tourism, reports BSS.

The Sri Lankan envoy highlighted recent collaborative initiatives and shared updates on Sri Lankan investments and businesses operating in Bangladesh.

He appreciated the continued interest of Bangladeshi tourists in Sri Lanka and expressed hope for further tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

The two sides welcomed the upcoming visit of a Bangladeshi trade delegation to Sri Lanka later this month, expressing optimism that the visit would create new avenues for business partnerships and deepen economic engagement.
