Two men killed after house becomes lightning strike in Chandpur

Two men died from electrocution on Friday morning in the Puran Bazar area of Chandpur town.

The deceased were identified as Md Montu Dhali, 70, and Md Anwar Hossain Khan, 55—both residents of West Jafarabad village.

According to Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Bahar Mia, the incident occurred when the house became electrified due to an earthing fault. Anwar Hossain was electrocuted after touching a tin wall while attempting to step outside and cried out for help. Montu Dhali was electrocuted while trying to rescue him.

Locals rushed both men to Chandpur General Hospital, where on-duty Residential Medical Officer Dr Asibul Ahsan declared them dead on arrival.

“No complaints have been filed by the families. Two separate unnatural death cases have been registered,” said the OC, adding that the bodies have been handed over to their families.
