BADC advances farmer friendly irrigation

Staff Reporter:

A training programme was held under the “Surface Water-Based Irrigation Development Project in Pabna, Natore, and Sirajganj Districts,” implemented by the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).

The programme, focusing on enhancing skills related to e-GP and PPR procedures, took place at the project’s main office, the Irrigation Building in Pabna, from May 4 to May 8, 2025. Engineers and officials involved in the project participated in the training sessions.

Highlighting the background of the project, Project Director Mahmud Hasan Khan noted that the initiative has historical significance in improving agriculture and irrigation management in the region, having been implemented in various phases since 1998.

Speaking virtually on the concluding day of the training, BADC Chairman Md Ruhul Amin Khan (Grade-1) emphasized that BADC is consistently working for the development of agriculture and farmers. “BADC is a farmer-friendly institution,” he said.

Regarding the ongoing surface water irrigation project, the Chairman described it as one of the most significant initiatives currently being implemented. He stated that the project has already begun to benefit local farmers by improving access to irrigation.

He urged all concerned to carry out their duties with sincerity, maintaining transparency and integrity, and to continue driving BADC’s operations forward.
