Army seizes goods worth Tk 1.4cr in Sylhet

Smuggling goods worth 1.4 crore taka were seized in two separate operations by members Haripur Gasfield Army Camp in Sylhet.
On Friday, April 25, at 8:25 pm, the army, led by Captain Mahmud-bin-Mahfuz Saif of 27 Bir, conducted a raid on the northern side of Fatepur Bazar in Gowaighat Upazila, Lama Fatepur village, based on secret information. During this, 2 people and a mini truck, along with various types of Indian goods illegally brought across the border, were seized from a godown.
On the other hand, at 10:10 pm, Captain Ifatur Rahman Afrid of 27 Bir conducted a raid on Lafnaut village in Alirgaon Union of Gowaighat Upazila and various types of Indian cosmetic products were seized from a godown along the border.
Those arrested in the army raid are Md. Hanif Ahmed, son of Abdul Latif of Lama Fatepur village in Gowaighat Upazila, and Juman Ahmed, son of Ahmad Ali of Narayanpur village.
The seized Indian products include Screen Sign Cream, Skin Bright Cream, Clop G Cream, Gillette Blades and Indian Lehenga. The estimated market value of which is around 1 crore 39 lakh 87 thousand 440 taka. The products seized in the operation by the army were handed over to the CO of 48 BGB for legal action.
