2 held with 400 grams of gold at HSIA

The Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested two people and recovered three gold bars and gold ornaments weighing 400 grams at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Saturday morning.
Eighty-three cartons of foreign cigarettes and 100 pieces of fabrics were also seized from their possession.
The arrestees were identified as Omar Faruk,48, and Abul Basar,50, both residents of Munshiganj district.
Tanjina Akter, assistant superintendent of APBn, said the duo landed at the airport from a Bangladesh Biman Airlines flight ‘BG 087’ from Kuala Lampur at about 6:30 am.
When they were passing through the airport’s green channel, members of APBn challenged them and recovered three gold bars and some gold ornaments searching their bodies.
They also recovered 83 cartons of foreign cigarettes and 100 pieces of ladies fabrics from their luggage.
The market value of the seized gold and others will be Tk30 lakh.
