Around Tk 2,000cr adds to market before Eid

The market capitalization of the main stock market Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased by over Tk 2,000 crore due to reduce the pressure to sell shares, the stock market witnessed a continuous upward trend in the last three working days before Eid.
As a result, the share unit prices of a large number of companies participating in trading increased throughout the past week.
Of the companies traded on the DSE over the past week, 193 were in the list of companies that increased in price.
On the contrary, the prices of 161 companies decreased. The prices of 42 remained unchanged. That is, the share and unit prices of 49 percent of the companies participating in trading increased.
With the increase in the share and unit prices of most companies, the market capitalization of the DSE stood at Tk 6,73,866 crore at the end of the trading on the last working day of the week.
Which was Tk 6,71,517 crore on the last working day of the previous week. That is, the market capitalization increased by Tk 2,349 crore or 0.35 percent in the week.
Along with the increase in market capitalization, the price index also increased last week.
The main price index of DSE, DSEX, increased by 17.46 points or 0.34 percent last week. The index decreased by 23.91 points or 0.46 percent in the previous week.
The DSE Shariah Index, which consists of companies operating on the basis of Islamic Sharia, increased by 10.09 points or 0.87 percent in the previous week. The index decreased by 7.26 points or 0.62 percent in the previous week.
And the DSE-30 Index, which consists of selected well-selected companies, increased by 26.81 points or 1.42 percent in the previous week. The index increased by 13.68 points or 0.72 percent in the previous week.
Although all the price indices increased, the pace of trading on the DSE slowed down. On average, 406.77 crore taka was traded on the DSE every working day last week.
On average, 476.86 crore taka was traded daily in the previous week. That is, the average trading volume per working day decreased by Tk700.9 million.
Orion Infusion’s shares were the most traded in terms of nomey on the DSE throughout the week.
The company’s shares were traded on average Tk270.6 million daily, which is 6.80 percent of the total trading volume. Beximco Pharma, which was in second place, was traded on average Tk 231 million daily.
Shahinpukur Ceramic is in third place with an average daily trading volume of Tk139.3 million.
In addition, the list of top ten companies in terms of trading includes – 20-year TB (Treasury Bond) 0744 Bond, Beach Hatchery, Square Pharmaceuticals, Lovelo Ice Cream, Sunlife Insurance, KDS Accessories and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
