Independence Day observed in Gouripur

Independence Day and National Day was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district with much enthusiasm on Wednesday.
The Independence Day began with heralding of a 31-gun salute at dawn on the Swadhinata Chattar premises,
Gouripur Upazila administration as well as Gouripur Pourashava arranged a detailed programme to celebrate the day which included placing wreaths at Bijoy-71, hoisting the national flag atop all government, autonomous, and semi-government offices.
M. Sazzadul Hasan ,UNO of Gouripur Upazila and Upazila Administrator , Sunnada Sarkar Proma, AC( Land) and Administrator of Gouripur Municipality as well as other officials of the upazila administration and the police department placed floral wreaths on the monument Bijoy-71 of Gouripur upazila town.
People from all walks of life and activists of political, cultural and professional organisations, institutions and. clubs, such as Gouripur Pourashava, Gouripur Thana, Gouripur Press Club, Bangladesh Press Club-Gouripur unit, Gouripur Sangbadik Oikkay Forum, Gouripur Reporters Club, Gouripur Govt. College, Gouripur Women College, Gouripur Govt. Technical School and College, Gouripur R.K.Govt. High school, Gouripur Pilot Girls High School, Nurul Amin Khan High School, Chader Hat Agradut Niketon, Govt.Textile Vocational Institute also placed floral wreaths at the monument Bijoy-71 and paid homage to the war heroes.
In the morning, a colourful combined parade of police, Ansar, BNCC, boy scouts, girl guides and children of different clubs and educational institutions was held at the local stadium of this upazila.
M. Sazzadul Hasan ,UNO of Gouripur Upazila was a chief guest there and hoisted the national flag to mark the day. Sunnada Sarkar Proma, AC( Land), Mirza Mazharul Anwar, OC 0f Gouripur Thana were present as special guests. Besides, in the day long, the government and non-government, political and socio-cultural organisations had drawn up elaborate programmes.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) of Gouripur upazila unit chalked out an elaborate programme to observe the Independence Day, Other political parties and their associate bodies of this upazila drew up various programmes to Independence Day.
